Free parking in Ozone Carpark

News Article Date:
Wednesday, 1 November 2017

Warrnambool City Council is providing free 90-minute parking in Ozone Car Park from November 1 as part of the City Centre Renewal business support package.

In the previous two-hour section of the car park, 179 spaces have been converted to free 90 minute spaces.

Drivers do not need to print and display a free ticket as has been the case in previous free parking initiatives, with Local Laws officers to monitor the duration of vehicle stays.

The four-hour section of Ozone Carpark will continue to operate as normal, with drivers required to pay for and display a ticket.

“Free 90-minute parking in Parkers carpark was very well received by the community over the past year, and I’m sure that free parking in Ozone carpark will be just as popular,” Warrnambool City Council Director City Infrastructure Scott Cavanagh said.

“The provision of free parking is one initiative within a wider business support package which encourages people to continue to shop in the city centre while the City Centre Renewal is being delivered.

“New signage in Ozone Carpark will make it clear which sections provide free parking.

“Please remember that free parking is for 90 minutes only. If you are planning to spend more time in the CBD, please choose your parking space accordingly.”

Vehicles can access Ozone Carpark via Kepler and Timor streets.

There are more than 3500 parking spaces in the Warrnambool CBD, more than 1000 of which are free.

Work on Zone Two of the City Centre Renewal, which includes Liebig Street from Koroit Street to Timor Street, will begin in February 2018.
