Banksia marginata

A hardy native suitable for coastal conditions, this species can grow up to 7 metres tall, however around this area it usually grows as a small shrub to 2 metres. It is a dense, stiffly-branched shrub, with narrow dark green leaves that are silvery-white underneath and yellow cylindrical bottle brush flowers that are produced mainly from February to June. It grows well in well drained soils in full sun to part shade, is moderately frost tolerant and attracts native birds and insects.
